This project offered us the opportunity to concentrate on the design of richly textured elements in the context of a largely proportioned space. The plan covers approximately 2,200sf.
The functional volumes and walls separating the central open space from the adjacent bedrooms pull away from the ceiling and from the window wall to the east. The wall of windows as well as the floor and ceiling planes are continuous across three rooms at once, unifying the space and "expanding" the views.
A foil immediately in front of the entry door creates a slightly labyrinthine entry sequence. The body is given a moment to adjust, while the light and delicate foil engenders delay rather than prevention.
Finally, colors and materials conserve the clean, uncluttered effect produced by the planimetric and sectional design and favored by the clients.
